A classic book is one that can be enjoyed by anyone from 4 to 80. 'Cedric' fits the bill and will soon be a classic! Cedric is good and true and beautiful. Just read it and see for yourself. The beauty and terror of the sea come alive in the Victorian era, along with crusty old characters in need of redemption, intertwined with the story of a truly amazing dog, with a splash of delightful chaste romances. A deep love of God is strongly woven throughout the entire story. Personally, I am going to enjoy reading this book to my entire family! It's hard to find books that everyone will like but this one has the makings to be enjoyed by our 16 year old all the way down to our 4 year old, with all the kids in between!

I agree with the previous reviewer that the character development is captivating. I would tell myself, "Just one more chapter" and end up reading several more. The interwoven relationships remind the reader that we influence others (for good or bad) by our attitudes, words, and actions. What may seem insignificant to us, may have a powerful impact on others. Who would have thought that an 1831 painting of a dog would inspire an author to write such a wonderful book? I'm thankful that the dog inspired the painter, who in turn, inspired the author, who inspired this reader.

The character development in this book grabs the reader and doesn’t let go. I would read a chapter thoroughly enjoying it yet wondering where it was leading and what I should be musing about. I love how faith is delicately woven into the lives of the people of Sheppley.

Cedric. Wow! What a good book. The writer paints a great mental picture of people and places. The story is engaging and a real page turner. Short chapters make it a perfect read for a teacher to read daily to a class of students or for a grandparent to read to young ones!
